Jakarta Food Security, Marine, and Agriculture (KPKP) Agency urges residents to immediately report and consult with officers if they find livestock that are indicated to have Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD).

Jakarta KPKP Agency Head, Suharini Eli mentinoed, FMD is caused by virus and spreads very quickly among cloven-hoofed animals, such as cattle, buffaloes, goats, sheep, and pigs, and has a potential to reduce livestock production.
"The virus is found in the blood, saliva, and viscera of sick animals. It has a potential to be transmitted to other sensitive animals through water used to wash offal and its remaining pieces that are discarded as waste has a potential to transmit the virus to other sensitive animals that eat them," she explained, Monday (1/20).
